Ghaziabad, Noida and the wider Delhi-NCR region woke up to intense monsoon activity on Sunday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert for Ghaziabad and an orange alert for Noida.
The heavy rain helped cool down the hot August weather but also caused problems all over the area.
Ghaziabad on Red Alert
People in Ghaziabad woke up to rain that poured fast and hard. Rainfall got so strong that the weather office gave a Ghaziabad red alert for very heavy showers.
This alert, which lasted till 11 am, warned about water on roads, small floods, and troubles in buses and trains. Officials told everyone to stay home, mostly in low places.
This was one of the worst rain days of the season, with more rain than usual for August. The Ghaziabad red alert later turned yellow but people still need to be careful because the ground is wet and the sky is grey.
Noida on Orange Alert
Close by in Noida, steady rain fell all morning. This made the weather team send an orange alert. The Noida orange alert means it’s less bad than in Ghaziabad but still brings big problems like traffic jams and lights going out.
Helpers and rescue teams stood ready while water gathered on roads. Cars moved slowly in the busy morning time. The Noida orange alert stayed till noon and later eased when the rain got lighter.

Delhi Rain Forecast and Cooling Trend
In Delhi, the air turned cool after many hot and sticky days. The Delhi rain forecast showed clouds, soft to medium rain and cooler air.
The weather office said this August could be Delhi’s coolest in more than ten years with the high temperature around 33.2°C.
That’s a little less than the 33.1°C seen in 2012. The Delhi forecast also shows soft rain and clouds will stick around into the next week with a little thunder and lots of wet air.
Travel and Daily Life Impacted
Rain also messed up flights. Over 100 take-offs and many landings got late at Delhi airport because of low clouds. Airlines like IndiGo told flyers to check times and plan early.
Traffic stopped and moved slowly on big roads that link Delhi to Noida and Ghaziabad, as water filled streets and drains clogged. In Noida, some lights went out. In Ghaziabad, a few homes had no power for some time.
In Summary:
The sudden, heavy rain cooled the air but also brought trouble. With the Ghaziabad red, Noida orange alert and the steady Delhi rain forecast, people in NCR should listen up, travel smart and get ready for more wet days.
